Two Year Anniversary - What's Next?...

It is now almost Thanksgiving, and our busiest time of the year is drawing to a close. There are many events to reflect on, and many exciting plans in the making.

Today marks the second anniversary when ECR opened its doors for its first event in 2007. We have come a long way since the Porsche Maverick Region hosted our first event and it was only appropriate that we were there to celebrate this past weekend with them again.

In that time we have improved our track, got grass growing! Improved our barriers, continued our journey for the removal of all rocks away from the track boundaries, and added new equipment for the speedy response needed for the track's cleanliness and safety. We have also added lock-up garages, open garages for events and a variety of extra services. We now have our own facilities for making items such as tee shirts, caps and a whole list of new designs in apparel to come. So those of you who like wearing the "eagle" there will be greater choice.

We are also proud to announce the opening of our trackside support services with Mike Alexander, who has nine years experience with Porsche plus racing experience with numerous types and models of European and American descent. Our name will be "Eagle 1 Racing" and our facilities will include tire changing and balancing, tire storage racks, full car set up and alignment and more. All are welcome to visit.

Our plans for 2010 are to get the lower paddock completely asphalted, so that we can have a skid pad, install R.V. hook-ups, and create adjacent to this area new showers and rest rooms. To pave the upper paddock, create a new Tech building and reposition the staging to our pit lane. These are just a few details on our journey to make ECR a premier facility in Texas. To our 2010 calendar we have an exciting new event to add the lemons, that is Le Mons, are coming to town in June. For those of you who do not know what this is I advise you to go to www.24hoursoflemons.com if you want good entertainment and a laugh don't miss out participating or watching this event. Linda and I drove together with Bill Kingsley, an ECR member, in Stewart Foster's #16 car at MSR Houston. I don't know when we've shared a more entertaining time. Bang for the buck it doesn't get any better.

My thanks to the staff at ECR, with Maggie at the helm and her husband Tim, Chase, Jeff, and Meagan, not to speak of all the help we get from part timers such as Randy Joy our IT expert and Phil Sams our EMT support, it takes a team to make things happen and I applaud their efforts.

As I have rambled on enough about the cars its time I posted a few words about our bike riders. We know that you feel the track almost as much as the shifter karts and maybe more since you are on two wheels! All your comments have not gone unnoticed, your positive support has also been a great contributor to ECR. Ty Howard still has the track record of 1:46 min. however there are a few now popping the 2:00 min. and some of you who are close. The bikes add a lot to our track and people are always amazed at those of you who kiss the curbs at turn 11(with your knees).

In other news our compliments go to Anders Krohn who just drove his rookie year in the Star Mazda Series and was previously the F2000 champion and now has our new track record of 1:39 min.; and Steve Hill one of our founding members who became "rookie of the year" in Ferrari Challenge together with the support of his wife Jessica. This year has been one where we have made great progress, especially in a time that has been challenging for so many.

So our best wishes to all for the holiday season and as always come find Linda and I at the track and we will answer any questions you may have.
